Retail version of this great album.
Talent, an enormous amount of talent is what most accurately describes Sir
Giant, who’s driven by an unshakable will to dedicate his life to the best thing
he’s got: Music.
He was just 12 years old when his brother Paulo gave him a drum set. In 1993 he
put together a punk band, and soon joined other projects with distinct sounds,
from hardcore to reggae/ska. He became an exquisite drummer and the experience
gathered from rehearsals induced him to master other instruments like the guitar
and the bass, as well as showing great vocal improvement.
Hard-working and profoundly acquainted with the music business, he started some
projects in 2001, born out of his sole initiative and creativity, in which he
would write, play and produce. That was the shy beginning of the massive project
that Sir Giant entails.
A year later he put together a recording studio entirely on his own, where he
would later meet musicians and people that would help him launch his career.
That’s when he wondered: “I write, I record, I am my manager and I am
responsible for the graphics and design…so why not sing?”
The songs that would be included in his EP “05” were shaping up, with Sir Giant
being somewhat the “man of seven instruments”, Eagles-like, controlling the
drums and voice at the same time.
The project soon became very solid, to the point where the artist was freed up
to be just the singer, the front-man.
In May 2005 he recorded and produced his first EP, released in September that
same year. Sir Giant once again proved how perfectionist, multitalented and
patient he is, writing all the material as well as producing it, giving
unforgettable performances as a drummer, a bass-player, a guitarist and singer.
After he released his first EP “05”, and after a few concerts and a continuous
promotion drive, Sir Giant made it into the Antena 3 playlist, and his song “I’m
25” hit number 23 of the 50 most played national and international songs of the
year, voted by the public.
“I’m 25” was featured in the Original Sound Track of the third season of
Morangos com Açucar and in the compilation “Reggae – the best record ever”, and
its video clip was on heavy rotation on MTV Portugal, Sic Mulher, Sic Radical
and Extreme Sports Channel, which used a sample as the soundtrack to some of its
shows.
Meanwhile, after making several TV and Radio appearances, and after opening up
for the famous reggae band Zion Train, Sir Giant gained international
recognition when, at the end of 2005, he won the European Music Competition,
promoted by Levi’s, which led him to record the single “Life is Going Down” at
the mythical Abbey Road Studios, made famous by names such as The Beatles and
Pink Floyd.
The whole process was closely followed by MTV, being interviewed on the show MTV
Buzz and also by radio Antena 3.
A few months later “Life is Going Down” was released in Japan through One Big
Family Records in the compilation “One Big Family VA3”.
In the summer of 2006 he played with Dub Incorporation (France) and Natiruts
(Brazil), in Cascais, and he shared the stage at Festival Sudoeste with famous
reggae singer Jimmy Cliff. His performance was broadcast live by Antena 3 and
Sir Giant was once again featured in an interview by MTV Portugal.
enjoy!!!
